SHE COMPLETED REQUIREMENTS FOR HER 500 HOUR CERTIFICATION WITH TIAS AND SURYA LITTLE AT PRAJNA YOGA IN SANTA FE AND IT IS THE PRAJNA PRACTICE AND PHILOSOPHY THAT MOST INFORMS HER TEACHING TODAY. ADDITIONALLY, JANE HAS STUDIED WITH JULIE GUDMESTAD, ELISE BROWNING MILLER AND PAUL AND SUZEE GRILLEY AND SHE IS CURRENTLY WORKING TOWARD A YOGA FOR SCOLIOSIS CERTIFICATION WITH ELISE MILLER. BEFORE EARNING HER RYT200 AT BIRD ROCK YOGA IN SAN DIEGO, CA, CARLY'S YOGA JOURNEY BEGAN 15 YEARS AGO AS A TEENAGER.  YOGA OFFERED HER A TOOL TO BALANCE OUT THE DEMANDS OF DISTANCE RUNNING AND SITTING FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME STUDYING AND THE DEMANDS OF LATER WORKING AT A DESK. THIS PATH HAS LEAD HER TO EXPLORE MANY STYLES OF YOGA INCLUDING BIKRAM, BAPTISTE, ASHTANGA MYSORE, HATHA, VINYASA FLOW, YIN/RESTORATIVE AND SILENT STILL MEDITATION. SHE ENJOYS ELEMENTS OF EACH STYLE AND USES TOOLS FROM EACH DISCIPLINE TO CREATE HER CLASSES. SHE OFFERS AN INTERDISCIPLINARY TEACHING STYLE VALUING CREATIVITY AND ADAPTABILITY. SHE MOVED TO THE US IN 1996, GOING TO SCHOOL IN MONTANA AND MARYLAND, AND WORKING MANY YEARS IN WASHINGTON, DC IN TRADE AND INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT. SHE MOVED TO THE NORTHWEST, SETTLING IN BEAUTIFUL SISTERS, IN 2008 WITH HER HUSBAND AND YOUNG CHILDREN. SHE FEELS IT HAS BEEN ONE OF HER LIFE’S GREATEST BLESSINGS TO HAVE FOUND YOGA DURING HER FORMATIVE YEARS AND TO HAVE LEARNED TO WELCOME MINDFULNESS AND A METHOD FOR SELF-REALIZATION. OVER THE YEARS, AKIKO HAS PRACTICED A VARIETY OF STYLES, FROM SIVANANDA AND IYENGAR TO ASHTANGA AND VINYASA YOGA, AND MORE RECENTLY, RESTORATIVE YOGA. I HAVE KNOWN YOGA AS A REFUGE AND GOOD MEDICINE FOR MANY STAGES OF MY LIFE. MY YOGA PRACTICE HELPED ME THROUGH YEARS OF A BUSY JOB, AND THROUGH A BOUT OF HIP ARTHRITIS AND JOINT REPLACEMENT SURGERY. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY TO STUDY YOGA TEACHING WITH KARI SIMS ANTHON THROUGH THE COCC RYT 200 PROGRAM IN 2012, AND TO LEARN FROM HER TEACHERS AT THE OJAI YOGA CRIB. PHOENIX SPENT THE FIRST 30 YEARS OF HER CAREER WORKING WITH KIDS, TEENS, FAMILIES AND ADULTS IN A WIDE RANGE OF PRIVATE AND PUBLIC MENTAL HEALTH SETTINGS. SHE BEGAN HER PERSONAL YOGA PRACTICE AS A WAY TO HELP MANAGE STRESS AND TO STAY FLEXIBLE AS A DISTANCE RUNNER. AND THEN ONE DAY SHE REALIZED THAT HER YOGA PRACTICE HAD BECOME SO MUCH MORE IN HER LIFE. SO, SHE CLOSED HER COUNSELING PRACTICE TO SPEND TIME EXPLORING OTHER WAYS OF HELPING PEOPLE TO WELLNESS. IN 2012 SHE EXPERIENCED A TRAGIC LOSS AND IT WAS DURING THOSE FIRST HOURS OF DESPAIR THAT SHE WAS CERTAIN THAT HER PRACTICE OF YOGA (AND THE LONG RUN TRAINING) WOULD BE KEY TO MANAGING HER GRIEF PROCESS AND THAT SHE HAD TO SHARE THE PRACTICE WITH OTHERS. PHOENIX IS A CERTIFIED YOUTH YOGA INSTRUCTOR THROUGH YOGA CALM™ AND A RYT-200 THROUGH STILL MOVING STUDIO. PHOENIX'S CLASSES FOCUS ON BALANCE, STRENGTH, AND FLEXIBILITY THROUGH TRADITIONAL YOGA POSES. SHE SPENDS TIME FOCUSING ON MINDFULNESS AND DEEP RELAXATION WITH ATTENTION TO HEALTHY ALIGNMENT. YOGA IS A HUGE PART OF MY LIFE. MY PASSION, DEDICATION AND LOVE PLAY A HUGE FACTOR IN MY CLASSES. I FEEL THAT THROUGH YOGA, WE ARE ABLE TO ACCESS THE TRUE SELF, THE "REAL US". FOR ME IT IS ALL ABOUT MINDFULNESS AND FOCUS. I LOVE THE BREATH WORK AND THE MEDITATION THAT COME WITH THE PHYSICAL PRACTICE. I HAVE LIVED IN CENTRAL OR SINCE 1994. I MOVED HERE TO SKI, AND STILL HAVE A HUGE PASSION AND DESIRE FOR THAT. I LOVE ALL THAT I DO. I AM INSPIRED BY MY TWO YOUNG CHILDREN, AND MY AMAZING HUSBAND. MY YOGA JOURNEY STARTED IN BEND WITH ASHTANGA 15 YEARS AGO & I WAS A VERY DEDICATED ASHTANGI FOR 14 YEARS, PRACTICING THE PRIMARY & SECONDARY SERIES. HAVE YOU EVER FELT IT'S TIME TO MOVE ON? WELL SO DID I, AND I ENROLLED IN RED STONE YOGA TEACHER TRAINING IN BEND OR, WITH MY 64 YEAR OLD FATHER. WOW, WHAT AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. TEACHER TRAINING WAS LIFE CHANGING, AND FROM THAT MOMENT ON I KNEW THAT I WAS DESTINED TO SHARE MY LOVE & DEDICATION WITH THOSE IN MY COMMUNITY. I LOVE SISTERS AND ALL IT'S PEOPLE. I AM SO ECSTATIC ABOUT MY JOURNEY AND HOPE TO DRAW YOU INTO A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE OF CHANTING, BREATH AND MOVEMENT. EACH CLASS IS DEDICATED TO THE NEEDS AND DESIRE OF THE STUDENTS THAT DAY.







SINCE CHILDHOOD, ERIN NEVER FELT LIKE SHE WAS PHYSICALLY FIT. WHEN SHE DISCOVERED YOGA AT COCC IN 2008 SHE FINALLY FELT LIKE SHE WAS CAPABLE. THERE WAS A CONNECTION. AT FIRST IT WAS A CONNECTION BETWEEN HER MIND & BODY. OVER TIME, SHE FOUND THE CONNECTION TO HER BREATH AND THE MENTAL BENEFITS LED HER TO TAKE HER FRIST 200HR YTT IN 2012. THE INTENTION BEHIND TAKING THAT STEP INTO TRAINING WAS TO FIND MORE AUTHENTICITY AND WHAT SHE FOUND WAS JUST THAT, AND TEACHING CALLED TO HER FROM WITHIN. THE DOORS HAVE CONTINUED OPENING; WITHIN HER HEAR, HER LIFE AND HER PRACTICE. IN 2015, SHE FELT SOMETHING WAS MISSING AND DECIDED TO CONTINUE HER EDUCATION WITH ANOTHER 200 HR TRAINING HERE IN SISTER WITH KARI, AND THIS IS WHERE SHE HAS FOUND HER TEACHINGS EXPAND FAR BEYOND WHAT SHE TOUGHT WOULD EVER BE POSSIBLE. ERIN'S PRACTICE OF YOGA IS ALWAYS GROWING AND THE TEACHINGS ARE FLOWING FROM HER HEART OUT TO MEET ALL OF YOU. THE MANY TEACHERS WHO HAVE INSPIRED HER PRACTICE CONTINUOUSLY INSPIRE HER TEACHING. SINCE FINDING YOGA, ERIN HAS FOUND A LOVE FOR LIFE THAT GOES BEYOND THE MAT. SHE AND HER HUSBAND HAS ASSIMILATED INTO THE ESSENCE OF WHAT CENTRAL OREGON HAS TO OFFER. THEY ENJOY SKIING, HIKING, KAYAKING AND EMBRACE ALL OF THE GORGEOUS OUTDOOR OPPORTUNITIES THEY CAN GET WITH THEIR TWO DOGS.
